Maker Spotlight: Beth A. Elpers
This midwestern gal has been in love with all things jewelry from the very beginning of life. Baby photos show me wearing small gold rings, necklaces, and bracelets. My mom was onto something. My art and design talent took me into agricultural advertising by trade, but my love of jewelry remained. Almost 20 years ago, I took my first jewelry design class at a small shop in Wisconsin. I was hooked. Marriage, motherhood, and homeschooling have filled the years since moving to southern Indiana 17 years ago. In between these precious activities, I've continued to design and create jewelry under the name Bejeweled Jewelry Designs. My style is very eclectic...incorporating metals, clay, antler, leather, wire, fabric, resin, solder, and all kinds of beads and found objects. Uniqueness is essential. No design is ever mass-produced. Each is a reflection of me in some way. I'm an artisan, not a crafter. Nothing gives me greater joy than seeing a customer wear one of my designs. I also teach jewelry design classes to others that want to learn fundamentals and techniques that can take their creativity from an idea to a beautiful wearable item.
